Hollywood Suite is pleased to announce the exclusive Canadian premiere of the second season of BBC horror comedy series Wreck, with all six episodes landing on Hollywood Suite On Demand June 1. Viewers can also tune in weekly on Thursdays at 9pm ET starting June 6, 2024.
Created and written by Ryan J. Brown, the second season of Wreck is set months after the first season’s shocking blood-soaked conclusion. We rejoin Jamie, Vivian and their found family of survivors back on land, as they strike back against Velorum, the corporate murder machine that claimed Jamie’s sister. In a daring and desperate attempt to bring the Company down, the gang go undercover to infiltrate Velorum’s newest venture – an exclusive wellness festival for millionaires in the remote Slovenian countryside.
TV veteran Alan Dale (The O.C., Ugly Betty) is among the new cast members for Season 2. Oscar Kennedy (Ladhood, Breeders), Thaddea Graham (Sex Education, Us) and Jodie Tyack (Noughts + Crosses, Unforgotten) all return as well, alongside fellow survivors Anthony Rickman (Enola Holmes), Amber Grappy (One Day), Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters), Miya Ocego, Warren James Dunning, Alice Nokes, James Phoon (Bridgerton), Ali Hardman, Rory O’Neill (Panti), and Harriet Webb (Big Boys).
“Ryan J. Brown promised a bigger and bloodier second season and wow, does it deliver!” said Sharon Stevens, Vice President, Programming at Hollywood Suite. “The dial is turned to eleven this season with even more razor-sharp dark comedy, outrageous gore and spot-on performances.”
The second season was commissioned by Fiona Campbell, Controller of Youth Audience, BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. The series is produced by Euston Films (Nightsleeper, The Sister), a Fremantle company, with support from Northern Ireland Screen. Executive producers are Noemi Spanos for Euston Films with Ryan J. Brown, Chris Baugh and Nick Lambon for the BBC. The series is produced by Brendan Mullin (Dalgliesh) and directed by Chris Baugh (Boys from County Hell) and Louis Paxton (Shetland). Fremantle handles international distribution of the series.
Hollywood Suite welcomes you aboard a killer cruise with the exclusive Canadian premiere of the six-part horror-comedy series Wreck, starting with two back-to-back episodes on October 5, 2023. Starring Oscar Kennedy (Outlander), Jack Rowan (Peaky Blinders), and Thaddea Graham (Doctor Who), the show will set sail with a new episode airing every Thursday at 9pm ET until the season one finale on November 2, 2023. “We are delighted that Wreck will be anchoring our popular Shocktober programming this year,” said Sharon Stevens, Vice President, Programming at Hollywood Suite. “We are always looking for new scary movies and series to help our subscribers celebrate the spookiest season and Wreck brings a winning mix of giggles and gore with its wonderfully queer twist on the slasher format.”
“Wreck is a fast-paced and fun coming-of-age story that combines comedy and horror with questions about who we really are,” said Megan Nelles, Sales & Distribution Manager, Fremantle Canada. “Hollywood Suite is the perfect partner to bring this genre-bending series from our talented team at Euston Films to a Canadian audience and we could not be more delighted to have them onboard.”
Wreck is set on the Sacramentum, a luxury cruise liner on which a diverse group of disillusioned, nihilistic Gen Z cruise line workers embark on an odyssey of hedonistic partying. Twenty-year-old Jamie has joined the crew under a fake identity to uncover the truth about his sister’s reported suicide on the ship’s last voyage. On board he uncovers the gruesome truth, while sinister mascot Quacky prowls the decks at night.
The series is produced by Euston Films, a Fremantle label, and shot in Northern Ireland with support from Northern Ireland Screen. Wreck is written by Ryan J. Brown and executive produced by Tommy Bulfin (Death in Paradise, Peaky Blinders) and Noemi Spanos (Dublin Murders). Chris Baugh (Boys from County Hell) directs and executive produces all six episodes. With a 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the series has been picked up for a second season by BBC and Hulu.
